Thyme Tea

Ingredients

2–3 sprigs fresh thyme (or 1 tsp dried thyme)

 1 cup boiling water

 1 tsp raw honey (optional)

 1 slice fresh lemon (optional)

Instructions

1. Place the fresh thyme sprigs in a mug.

2. Pour boiling water directly over the thyme.

3. Cover the mug and steep for 5 to 10 minutes to trap the aromatic essential oils.

4. Strain out the sprigs, stir in honey and lemon if desired, and sip warm.

Health Context

Nutritional benefits: Thyme contains beneficial compounds like thymol and carvacrol, which provide natural antioxidant and mild antimicrobial properties. Drinking thyme tea can help soothe a sore throat or calm a cough.

Realistic expectations: Social media claims that thyme “destroys” systemic viral infections, parasites, or structural nerve conditions like sciatica are exaggerated. While it is a healthy, soothing herb, medical conditions such as UTIs, herpes, or arthritis require targeted medical evaluation and treatment.
