German Apple Sheet Cake

Ingredients

Apples: 3 large tart apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced into small chunks

 Batter:

 3 large eggs (room temperature)

 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar

 1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly

 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour

 2 tsp baking powder

 1/4 tsp salt

 1/4 cup (60ml) milk

 Topping: Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch or 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

2. Mix Wet Ingredients: Beat eggs and granulated sugar together in a large bowl for 2–3 minutes until pale and fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract and melted butter.

3. Add Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until just combined into a thick batter.

4. Fold Apples: Gently fold the diced apples directly into the batter until evenly coated.

5. Bake: Pour batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6. Finish: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then dust generously with powdered sugar before slicing into squares.
