Prep the Surface: Lay a sheet of parchment paper, wax paper, or a clean cotton towel flat on an ironing board.
Add Salt: Pour 2–3 tablespoons of coarse salt (sea salt or kosher salt works best) evenly over the paper or towel.
Heat the Iron: Turn the iron on to its highest heat setting. Turn the steam function completely off.
Iron the Salt: Once hot, iron over the salt in circular motions for 1–2 minutes. The abrasive texture of the salt draws off stuck-on residue and scorched buildup without scratching the metal plate.
Cool & Wipe: Turn off and unplug the iron. Let it cool down completely, then wipe the soleplate with a damp microfiber cloth to remove any leftover salt particles.
Method 2: The Vinegar Solution (For Steam Vents & General Cleaning)
Mix Solution: Combine equal parts distilled white vinegar and water in a small bowl.
Fill the Reservoir: Pour the vinegar and water mixture directly into the iron’s water tank.
Steam Out Buildup: Set the iron to high heat with full steam turned on. Iron a clean, scrap towel while pressing the steam burst button repeatedly to flush out mineral deposits and limescale from the steam vents.
Final Flush: Empty the remaining vinegar mixture, refill the reservoir with plain distilled water, and steam over the towel again to rinse out any remaining vinegar smell.
Wipe Clean: Once cool, wipe down the exterior and soleplate with a clean microfiber cloth.
