Option 1: Classic Pico de Gallo (Chunky Fresh Salsa)
This chunky, knife-cut version relies on fresh raw ingredients for a crisp bite and bright acidity.
Ingredients
6 ripe Roma tomatoes, finely diced
1 medium red or white onion, finely diced
1–2 jalapeños or serrano peppers, finely diced (seeds removed for mild heat)
1 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
Juice of 2 fresh limes
1 tsp fine sea salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp ground cumin (optional)
Instructions
1. Chop: Dice tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, and cilantro as evenly as possible.
2. Combine: Transfer all ingredients into a large glass bowl or mason jar.
3. Season: Add minced garlic, lime juice, salt, and optional cumin. Toss well until everything is evenly combined.
4. Rest: Let sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes before serving, or chill in the fridge for 1 hour to allow the flavors to marinate.
Option 2: Restaurant-Style Pulsed Salsa (Semi-Smooth)
This version uses a food processor to give you that saucy, finely blended texture seen toward the bottom of the jar in the image.
Ingredients
1 can (28 oz) whole peeled or diced tomatoes (drained) or 6 fresh ripe tomatoes
1/2 red onion, roughly chopped
2 jalapeños, seeded and chopped
2 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
Juice of 1 lime
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar (to balance acidity)
1/2 tsp ground cumin
Instructions
1. Pulse: Place onion, jalapeños, and garlic into a food processor or blender. Pulse 4–5 times until finely chopped.
2. Blend: Add tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, salt, sugar, and cumin. Pulse in short 1-second bursts until you reach your desired consistency (do not fully puree).
3. Store: Pour into a glass jar and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors blend.
